Cyprus Car Hire F.A.Q.


Here we have collected a list of the most frequently asked questions and answers to make your car rental process as simple and free of hassle as possible. Please take a moment and read our FAQ list in order to have clear information about car hire in Cyprus.

1. What’s the minimum and maximum driver’s age to rent a car in Cyprus with CyCarHire?
The minimum allowed driver’s age is 25 years old, however we accept drivers who are 21 years old who are in possession of a valid driving license for at least 3 years. The maximum age is 75 years old.

2. Can I add additional drivers in my car rental agreement?
Yes, you may add additional driver/s during your reservation provided they meet all car rental requirements and terms.

3. Who is allowed to drive the hired car?
Only the driver/s referred in the rental agreement is/are allowed to drive the hired car.

4. Is there any limit or extra charge for mileage?
No, there is no any limit or any extra charge for mileage.

5. What documents do I need to bring on car collection?
You will have to bring your reservation's voucher, a valid driving license for each driver, your passport or identity card and one of the accepted payment methods as mentioned in section 7.

6. Can I drive the hired car anywhere in Cyprus?
Due to insurance restrictions, you are allowed to drive the hired car only in the area of the Republic of Cyprus. You are not allowed to drive the hired car in the Turkish occupied area.

7. What payment types do you accept?
We accept all credit cards from internationally recognized credit card companies such as American Express, Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa and Diners Club. We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (VISA Electron).

8. Is there any additional charge for the use of a credit card?
No, there is no additional charge for using a credit card.

9. Will I get any refund if I return the hired vehicle earlier than planned?
No, you will not receive any kind of refund in the case you decide to return the rental vehicle earlier than planned.

10. What if I drop off the hired car late?
In this case, there is a grace period of one (1) hour without any extra charge. For more than one (1) hour there will be an extra charge of an extra day.

11. What happens if I get involved in a car accident?
In such unfortunate event you will have to immediately contact our 24 hour support team in order to get all the necessary instructions. You must not move the car unless instructed by a police officer.

12. What happens if the car breaks down?
In the case of a breakdown you can contact our 24-hour road assistance support service to report your issue to get all the necessary assistance.

13. Can I drop off the hired car at a different location from what is written in the car rental agreement?
Yes you can, but there might be an extra charge according the new drop off location.
You must also let us know at least one (1) day prior the drop off day.

14. Do you need my flight details?
We will ask you for your flight details only if you have selected to pick-up and/or drop-off your rental car at the airport in order to provide you the best possible and on time delivery of your rental car in case of a flight delay or early arrival.

15. Is it possible to extend my rental?
Usually it is possible to extend your car rental, but it is subject to availability based on the season of the rental. You must also let us know at least 48 hours prior the ending of your rental. The costs of the extended rental period will be calculated based on the current rental rates.
